Your Liposuction Procedure
Every liposuction procedure is performed in an outpatient setting at our modern medical facility to ensure safety. Depending on the extent of your surgery, general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation may be used.
Your surgeon will begin by making small incisions in the treatment areas. A sterile liquid solution is injected into localized fat deposits to reduce bleeding and allow for gentler, more thorough fat removal. Using controlled back-and-forth motions, your surgeon will move the cannula around under the skin to suction out excess fat cells. Our surgeons take their time during this important step in order to make sure that all of the fat is removed.
Your Recovery
After your procedure, your surgeon wraps your treated areas in special compression garments. These help your body conform to its new shape and also help reduce swelling. You may return home the same day, but it's important to have someone to drive you and stay with you throughout the night. In the days and weeks following surgery, you can expect some temporary bruising and swelling. However, these symptoms diminish on their own.
The physical restrictions you'll have during your liposuction recovery depend on which areas of your body were treated, so it's important to follow your surgeon's specific directions. In general, light activity, such as walking, should be resumed as soon as possible. More strenuous activities and anything that involves stooping, bending, or heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks.
Most people can return to work within 3 to 10 days, depending on the significance of their procedures and the type of work they do. During your consultation, your surgeon will give you a better idea of your recuperation timeline so you may plan accordingly with your family and employer.

Enhancing Your Look
Liposuction can often be enhanced with other body shaping procedures such as a tummy tuck or breast augmentation. Some men and women who choose liposuction of the chin and neck also opt for a facelift for additional effects. Your surgeon is happy to discuss complementary procedures with you during your consultation.
