Facelift and Neck Lift
Sculpt Your Face for More Youthful Contours in the Los Angeles and Palm Desert Area
When you feel youthful and vibrant, you want that radiance to be reflected in your appearance. Women and men seeking that radiance visit Cosmetic Surgery Institute for facelift and neck lift surgery in the Los Angeles area, coming to Palm Desert from Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs, and the surrounding areas to reverse signs of aging and restore their natural beauty. Our facial plastic surgeons implement a variety of strategic approaches during facial sculpting to give their patients complete rejuvenation benefits now and for years to come.
Our Approach to Facelift and Neck Lift
It is important to note that facelift and neck lift surgeries are devoted to addressing concerns on the lower portion of the face. Shifting tissues, excess skin hanging down after weight loss, and genetics can all play a role in hollowing cheeks, forming jowls that cause the jawline to lose definition, and causing lines and creases to appear. On the neck, sagging skin can create the look of turkey wattles.
Our surgeons take a multidisciplinary approach to facelift surgery that addresses these three common age-related conditions: skin laxity, facial hollowing, and poor skin texture and coloring. Using a combination of procedures and treatments that are tailored to your individual needs and physical characteristics, our surgeons can rejuvenate the skin and stimulate the production of collagen for a youthful appearance that will last.
During your facelift and neck lift, our surgeons first address the issue of skin laxity or facial sagging by removing excess skin and tightening the underlying muscles through carefully made incisions. Although some facial surgeons stop here, our surgeons take your surgery a step further with fat grafting. Using your existing fat tissue, the Cosmetic Surgery Institute team can add volume to areas of the face that appear hollow, such as under the eyes or cheeks. This step results in more youthful contours and a more natural appearance. In addition, collagen stimulation treatments are offered six weeks after surgery to help stimulate collagen production and refine the skin texture and tone. ALMI™ treatments can also be used to rejuvenate aging and damaged tissue.

What to Expect from a Facelift Procedure
Facelift surgery is always performed in our accredited medical facility under the supervision of our surgeons and staff. General anesthesia is most often provided for optimal comfort during your procedure.
Your surgeon will first make small incisions in the appropriate locations based on the degree of improvement you would like to see. Facelift incisions are typically hidden in the hairline and the areas where the ears meet the head. These incisions allow for the removal of excess skin and tissue, as well as the tightening of underlying facial muscles for a firm, but natural, appearance. Liposuction may also be used to remove any excess fat tissue in the neck area. Your procedure is completed with a fat transfer to fill in any hollow areas of the face.
Your surgeon will provide you with detailed post-operative care instructions, but you should expect to take seven to 10 days off from work or other activities, depending on the extent of your surgery. A bandage may be placed around your face for a few days to minimize swelling and bruising. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for four to six weeks.
Your Facelift and Neck Lift Choices
What types of facelift are available?
Cosmetic Surgery Institute provides a variety of facelift procedures, including traditional, mid-face lifts, and mini face lifts. Cost is determined by the scope of the procedure and is discussed at the initial consultation. Traditional facelifts are beneficial for people who want to tighten skin in the lower face and neck. A mini face lift provides subtle improvements and is typically suggested for individuals who have a small amount of skin sagging. Mid-face lifts correct sagging in the cheeks and improve the look of laugh lines. These procedures may be combined or customized depending on the case. Your surgeon will discuss the appropriate procedure with you before moving forward with any surgeries.
Should I include a fat transfer in my face procedure?
Our surgeons almost always include fat transfers during a facelift and neck lift. They have found that combining fat grafting with laser skin rejuvenation stimulates the formation of collagen and improves blood supply in the skin. This results in fewer lines and wrinkles, a more youthful-looking complexion, and longer-lasting results.
How can I improve the look of my eyes?
Since the facelift is so focused on the lower portion of the face, approximately 90 percent of our patients who choose a facelift also opt for eyelid surgery to "open up" the eye area. A modified brow lift is another option for individuals who want to reduce the look of wrinkles on the forehead or between the brows. Our surgeons can perform these procedures simultaneously for more dramatic improvements.
How can I maintain the results of my facelift?
After facelift surgery, regular laser or Ultherapy® treatments are recommended to improve the quality of the skin and promote collagen production. A regular skincare routine consisting of clinical products can also keep your skin healthy and in good condition. Additional treatments can be used to lessen the look of deep facial creases, such as forehead lines. Some patients schedule regular light, laser, and Fraxel® sessions.
Enhancing Your Look with More Than a Facelift or Neck Lift
Almost all of our facelift patients also choose to have eyelid surgery to improve their eye contours and reduce the look of "crow's feet" or fine lines. Nonsurgical skin rejuvenation treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or injectable fillers can be used before or after facelift surgery for added benefits.
