FAT TRANSFER CAN ENHANCE THE VOLUME AND SHAPE OF THE BUTTOCKS FOR PALM DESERT, INDIO, AND LOS ANGELES-AREA PATIENTS
Plenty of people wonder: “Can you get rid of a flat butt?” or “Can you get a bigger butt without exercise?” Happily, cosmetic procedures make it possible to enhance this area beyond what’s possible with lifestyle changes alone. By improving the curves of the buttocks, clothing may look and fit better. You can achieve a more well-proportioned body shape. Furthermore, a fuller or rounder butt can give you more of an hourglass figure if that’s what you’re hoping for. A Brazilian butt lift from our Palm Desert-based Dr. Mo Zakhireh—a plastic surgeon experienced in this fat-transfer technique—is a way of enhancing the curves of the lower body by using liposuction to remove fat from other areas of the patient’s body and transfer it to the buttocks to create a curvier or shapelier appearance.

The Brazilian butt lift approach is ideal for anyone who has trouble shaping and toning their buttocks through exercise, but who envisions beautiful, natural-looking results.
The Brazilian butt lift at Palm Desert’s Cosmetic Surgery Institute is known for adding volume to make smaller buttocks larger. Many patients don’t realize that the procedure can also address laxity by “filling in” loose areas to tighten sagging skin, as well as contour flat or square-shaped buttocks to make them rounder and shapelier.
BEFORE A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT: WHAT CAUSES A FLAT BUTT?
Some bodies are simply “built” with buttocks that don’t project much, which means genetics can cause people to have a flatter butt. Sedentary jobs or activities that require you to sit for long periods of time can also sometimes cause the buttocks to become flatter. Another cause of flat buttocks is simply aging. Over time, diminishing fat in the buttocks may cause them to appear flatter or increasingly “shapeless.”
Considering all of these buttocks-flattening factors, is it possible to get a rounder butt? The answer is yes. If you have been wanting to know, “What would I look like with a BBL?” you can talk to our team to discover more about what to expect from a Brazilian butt lift.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?
If you want to improve the contours and appearance of your buttocks, a Brazilian butt lift may be ideal for you. During your consultation, our team will work with you to decide whether a Brazilian butt lift, another procedure, or a combination of treatments will be best.
The question is, “Who is a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift?” Ideal candidates for a Brazilian butt lift include patients who are in good general physical health without certain chronic health conditions, who maintain realistic expectations, who feel that their butt is too small, who dislike the roundness or overall shape of their butt, or who feel that their butt is asymmetrical.
Brazilian butt lifts aren’t recommended for patients who don’t have an adequate amount of excess body fat to be used for fat grafting.
WHY CHOOSE COSMETIC SURGERY INSTITUTE FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?
Dr. Mo Zakhireh at Cosmetic Surgery Institute approaches each Brazilian butt lift with a surgical plan that combines your specific cosmetic goals with the technical skill and aesthetic vision he has refined through training and experience. He begins by physically assessing your skin and fatty tissues to determine the best areas of the body to perform surgical fat removal for the butt augmentation.
This procedure is performed in Palm Desert at our state-of-the-art surgical suite. During the liposuction portion, Dr. Mo uses very fine surgical tubes called Capistrano Precision Cannulas to efficiently remove fat cells. They then employ a very careful process of purifying the fat so that it remains viable. In the final stage, they use thin needles to inject the fat into strategic areas to reshape your buttocks. This requires not only medical knowledge and experience but a discerning aesthetic eye in order to maintain proportion and symmetry.
We believe in the value of thorough planning and candid conversations, starting with the initial Brazilian butt lift consultation, in order to keep you fully informed.

HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?
Prior to having a Brazilian butt lift, you should stop taking any blood thinning medications or supplements for at least two weeks—as long as it is medically safe to do so. You will also need to avoid smoking for several weeks both before and after the surgery. Gather all the recovery items you will need ahead of time. Before you undergo the surgery, we will assess your health status to determine whether you’re healthy enough for the procedure. Knowing what to expect and how to prepare can help you to ease your mind and manage any anxiety you might have.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?
Every Brazilian butt lift begins with surgical fat removal, which—depending on the extent of the surgery—may be performed with the patient under general anesthesia or using a local anesthetic with sedation. Our surgeons mark the areas targeted for fat removal, where they then make small incisions. They may take fat cells from the abdomen, thighs, hips, or back, but it’s also common for them to simply move fat from one area of the buttocks to another to create a rounder and more lifted shape.
For the surgical fat removal itself, they inject a sterile solution mixed with an anesthetic to help swell the fatty tissue, reduce bleeding, and limit any discomfort. Our surgeons then insert a cannula to gently break the fat cells free from their surrounding tissue and suction them away. Great care must be taken to preserve the integrity of the fat cells. Cells must remain alive in order to work as a natural filler in a Brazilian butt lift.
The next step in a Brazilian butt lift is purifying this living fat to remove blood cells and other tissue before it is injected at different sites around the buttocks. Because a percentage of the fat cells don’t survive the transfer process and are naturally expelled from the body, the initial results often appear larger than expected. The excess volume is intentionally done to compensate for the predicted loss of volume over time.
During the next several weeks and months, you’ll begin to see the desired final results for your Brazilian butt lift emerge.

WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?
Patients will experience some bruising and swelling in the areas where fat cells have been extracted. Prescribed or over-the-counter pain medications can help to provide relief for any discomfort. Special dressings, bandages, and garments will be applied to your incisions after a Brazilian butt lift. It’s recommended that you continue to wear these support garments throughout the healing phase, following the guidelines of our surgeons.
We will also provide advice about post-surgical care for surgical sites, which medications can be used to promote healing, any particular concerns you’ll need to look for at the surgical site or pertaining to your overall health, caring for drains, and when you’ll need to follow up with our surgeons.
Patients will often ask, “When can I go back to normal life after a Brazilian butt lift?” or “How long should you take off work after a Brazilian butt lift?” Initial recovery time can last anywhere from three to four weeks on average, though it varies depending on the individual. To get the best possible shape from a Brazilian butt lift, you’ll need to adhere to our surgeons’ post-operative guidelines as closely as you can.
It’s highly important for Brazilian butt lift patients to avoid sitting or sleeping directly on the buttocks for at least eight weeks so that they don’t place pressure on the area. It’s recommended that you sleep on your side or stomach and use a donut pillow or inflatable pillow placed behind your legs if you have to sit. Intense or high-impact exercise will need to be avoided – including bouncing, running, or jogging – to allow the fat cells to have time to stabilize. When the surgeon gives you the approval to do so, you can resume light walking for exercise and other activities.

WHEN WILL THE RESULTS APPEAR FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?
Wondering, “Why are my BBL results not showing?” Don’t be alarmed if you don’t see the full results you want right away. The ultimate effects from a Brazilian butt lift will typically show approximately six months after you have had this procedure. This is because it will take some time for you to fully heal and for the residual swelling to go down. This is when you will notice curvier buttocks, noticeably enhanced body proportions, and improvement in the way clothing fits.
WHAT IS THE LONG-TERM OUTLOOK FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?
How long do results from a Brazilian butt lift last? Can you lose your Brazilian butt lift (BBL) results?
These are two questions people often have when considering Brazilian butt lift surgery. The results from a Brazilian butt lift should last for years as the fat cells that have been transferred to the buttocks will survive and those fat cells will not “go back” to the areas where you have had liposuction. For optimal results, you will need to maintain a stable weight. This is because major weight fluctuations can have a negative impact on Brazilian butt lift results.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT SURGERY
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT AND TRADITIONAL BUTT AUGMENTATION?
In a Brazilian butt lift (now the preferred technique for contouring this area of the body), the shape is enhanced using fat taken from another part of the body. Traditional augmentation techniques often included the use of silicone buttock implants. Fat is preferred because it creates a far more natural look and feel, and it allows for much more customization based on each patient’s shape. Also, since the fat cells come from the patient’s own body, rejection or allergies are not a concern as they can be with implants.
HOW MUCH FAT IS NEEDED FOR A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?
The specific answer to this question depends on a patient’s aesthetic goals. Because the fat is purified after it is removed, and not all of the fat injected into the buttocks will survive, the supply of fat necessary is much greater than what is ultimately used in the procedure. Because of this, the donor area must have a healthy supply of fat cells—so a Brazilian butt lift may not be a viable option for people with little to no excess fat.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH FAT TO GET THE BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT RESULTS I WANT?
This situation is relatively common, particularly among patients who exercise often to stay fit. In some cases, we actually advise patients to gain a bit of weight so that enough fat is available for augmentation with a Brazilian butt lift. We can assess your individual needs at consultation and make recommendations accordingly.
WHERE WILL MY BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT SCARS BE LOCATED?
Incisions made for the liposuction portion of a Brazilian butt lift will be positioned in discreet locations so any small scars will be camouflaged or otherwise difficult to notice. The injections leave very small marks themselves. Dr. Mo works to leave the skin looking as clear and smooth as possible after a Brazilian butt lift.
WHAT DOES A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT COST IN 2023?
As with all cosmetic surgery procedures, several factors influence the final price of a Brazilian butt lift. The extensiveness of the surgery is the major deciding factor for most of our patients. Cost is always a consideration when selecting a surgeon, but it shouldn’t be the primary reason for your choice. Brazilian butt lift surgery requires a physician with a trained aesthetic eye and experience in the procedure. Our surgeons offer financing options to ensure our deserving patients can make their goals a reality. Although cost will certainly be a consideration, your safety and the quality of your results should be your priorities.
BEYOND BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT: WHAT ELSE CAN ALTER YOUR BODY SHAPE?
Because liposuction is an integral part of the Brazilian butt lift, patients benefit both from the enhanced buttocks and the slimming effect elsewhere in the body. Liposuction can be performed on its own, apart from a Brazilian butt lift, to reduce stubborn pockets of fat on certain areas for patients who want slimmer, more balanced, or better-defined contours. In some cases, patients may want to combine other procedures with Brazilian butt lift surgery to further enhance their curves. Popular choices include breast augmentation and tummy tuck surgery. Breast augmentation involves the use of breast implants, fat, or a combination of the two to add volume that enhances the size and shape of the breasts. A tummy tuck can provide a slimmer, more toned midsection area by addressing excess sagging skin and fat on the stomach.
A Brazilian butt lift may also be performed in addition to any of the elements of a Mommy Makeover in order to restore pre-pregnancy contours and proportions. The procedures available at Cosmetic Surgery Institute can be combined in order to shape the body a patient wants.
